    • Adams (undisclosed) returned to practice Tuesday,...

Adams (undisclosed) returned to practice Tuesday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Analysis: It's interesting to see Adams back at practice shortly after coach Doug Pederson said Matt Jones and Wendell Smallwood likely would be the only running backs available for Thursday's preseason game in Cleveland. The undrafted rookie may now have a shot to join that group, hoping to make his own case for the No. 4 running back job.

    • Matthews (undisclosed) signed a one-year extension...

Matthews (undisclosed) signed a one-year extension that also gives him the opportunity to earn an extra $1.375 million this upcoming season, ESPN.com's Field Yates reports.

Analysis: Initial reports only mentioned a one-year, $7.75 million team option for 2019, which wouldn't make any sense from Matthews' perspective. It turns out the new deal also includes up to $875,000 in per-game roster bonuses and $500,000 in incentives for 2018, along with more than $1 million worth of incentives for 2019. This still doesn't explain why Matthews is on the PUP list, as a contract holdout doesn't provide grounds for the designation. However, the contract provides a strong hint that the Titans aren't overly concerned by Matthews' undisclosed injury, even though he hasn't practiced since May. With any luck, the new contract might inspire team or player to comment on the undisclosed injury.

    • Rogers got the start in Monday's...

Rogers got the start in Monday's preseason game against Baltimore, catching two of four targets for 36 yards and recovering a teammate's fumble for a touchdown.

Analysis: With T.Y. Hilton (shoulder) held out, Indianapolis opened the game in a three-wide formation with Rogers, Ryan Grant and Kasen Williams. Rogers got all four of his targets in the first half, but his 28-yard gain came from Jacoby Brissett after Andrew Luck had been removed from the game. With Grant still in the lead for the No. 2 WR job, Rogers likely will enter Week 1 as the team's third receiver, a role that will come with limited snaps if the Colts are truly committed to getting TE Eric Ebron on the field.

    • Ballage remains in the concussion protocol...

Ballage remains in the concussion protocol and isn't practicing Tuesday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Analysis: The rookie fourth-round pick missed last week's preseason game in Carolina and isn't looking good for Saturday's exhibition against the Ravens. His absence isn't a huge concern in terms of Miami's Week 1 gameplan, considering Ballage is expected to start his career third or fourth on the backfield depth chart. If the concussion symptoms linger, Senorise Perry would see his roster odds improve.

    • Stills (ankle) returned to practice Tuesday,...

Stills (ankle) returned to practice Tuesday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Analysis: This is excellent news for a Miami team that isn't quite sure if DeVante Parker (hand) will be ready for Week 1. Stills should have time to ramp up his activity level in practice before Saturday's preseason game against the Ravens, but it won't be too surprising if he's held out anyway.
